A few weeks ago, I wrote to you to tell you that Immigration Equality was calling on Republicans and Democrats alike to commit to protecting LGBTQ immigrants and families in their convention platforms. Today, I’m happy to say, we were successful in our campaign!
Following months of advocacy, the Democratic Party included a plank in its platform stating its commitment to ending the detention of vulnerable immigrant populations, including LGBTQ immigrants.
This is a phenomenal victory for our community, but there are still no guarantees as to what will happen in November. With a real chance of an anti-LGBTQ, anti-immigrant administration, we are committed to helping as many queer and HIV-positive immigrants as we can, while we can. Your financial support makes this work possible, so please consider making a gift today.
