Thank you to everyone for your kind words of encouragement and support. In the eight years I’ve been with Immigration Equality, this organization has become an integral part of my life. Every day, we fight to end discrimination in the immigration system for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community. Every day, we save lives.
When I first joined Immigration Equality, people living with HIV were banned from entering the United States. U.S. citizens could not sponsor their same-sex spouses for immigration benefits. A lot has changed since then. And though we have celebrated many successes together, our work has just begun.
– People living with HIV are treated differently than all other immigrants;
– Low-income LGBTQ families still struggle to stay together; and
– People fleeing persecution based on sexual orientation or gender identity need our help.
Our mission is as important today as it was when I first started fighting for our community. We could not do any of this without your support. Thank you for being a part of our family!
