Abdul-Ganiy Okanlawon is Immigration Equality’s Special Events Coordinator.

Prior to joining Immigration Equality, Abdul successfully orchestrated a full range of logistical components for UnLocal, Inc.’s “Pride Around The World” event: identified & worked with diverse artist & entertainers, organized event timelines, supported promotional & marketing efforts, RSVP management, and emceed the event (in heels!). In addition, Abdul collaborated with UnLocal’s staff attorneys & clients to organize an interactive workshop for their LGBTQ+ Youth of Colour Project to educate and develop new relationships with potential donors and sponsors for the organization. He has also worked with community based organizations around New York City including Brooklyn Men Konnect, BrightPoint Health, and Thrive NYC where he has supported community outreach, marketing, event planning, and fundraising efforts.

Abdul is a graduate of Stony Brook University with double major in Mathematics & Statistics and a minor in Theater.
