Dear friends,

As you know, today marks the anniversary of an unspeakable tragedy for the LGBTQ community. One year ago, 49 people were killed in a place they considered to be a safe space – a gay nightclub.

Like all of you, we mourned with the nation, and with the city of Orlando. In time, we learned that immigrants were among the survivors and that the families of some of the victims needed legal assistance. After meeting with local community leaders, Immigration Equality partnered with the American Immigration Lawyers Association of Florida to create Immigrant Action Orlando. Then and now, we are working to ensure that anyone connected to the tragedy gets the help they need.

Today, we remember the lives of those lost too soon. And, every day, we honor them by celebrating queer immigrants from around the world — the people who make our communities stronger and our lives richer. Be well, and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Aaron C. Morris
