Becoming a refugee or seeking asylum are in some ways related, but they are two distinctly different immigration benefits. Immigration Equality works primarily with LGBTQ and HIV positive asylum seekers, detainees and undocumented people living in the U.S. While we work domestically on policy work related to LGBTQ and HIV positive refugees, we are not generally able to assist individual people who need help outside of the U.S.  There are three organizations we work with whose expertise is in refugee work.
